REQUEST THIS REFERENCEOmega has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932. That relationship has produced a number of commemorative watches over the decades. The Rio 2016 edition is among the most visually distinctive — and at 3,016 pieces, among the more deliberately constrained.
The dial tells the story before anything else does. The wave pattern is a direct reference to the iconic mosaic sidewalks of Copacabana Beach, transferred onto the black surface with the kind of specificity that separates a genuine commemorative piece from a marketing exercise. The polished black ceramic bezel carries the diving scale in white Super-LumiNova, with the numerals filled in red, blue, yellow, and green lacquer — the colours of the Olympic rings, each one deliberate. The caseback is engraved with the Rio 2016 Olympic Games logo alongside the individual limited edition number, locked in place permanently.
41mm stainless steel case. Date at 3 o'clock. Helium escape valve at 10 o'clock. Polished facetted skeleton hands. Full bracelet with all links included. Powered by the Co-Axial Calibre 2500. Water resistant to 300 metres.
The warranty card is undated. Original purchase receipt from July 2016 is included.
